Nathaniel Whitfield Barnes

Age 96 – better known as “George” of Sherbourne No. 1, St. John. Nathaniel peacefully departed this life on Tuesday August 31st, 2021. He was a retired Engineer of Andrew’s Sugar Factory.

Nathaniel was husband of the late Olga Barnes; stephfather of Patricia Boyce and Norma Howard (UK); adoptive Father of Avonel Ward (better known as “Jenny Barnes”); step-grand-father of Alistair and Richard Boyce. Adoptive grand-father of Curtis Padmore, Trisha and Rachelle Ware (Attorney-at-law); brother of William Parris (UK) and the late Eloise Cox.

Uncle of Yvonne Maynard, Anthony Barnes, Joy and Wendy Parris (UK) and eight others. Great-uncle of Stephanie Barnes and many others; brother-inlaw of Thelbert Connell; god-father of Verneta Harewood, Denise Parris and the late Markley Bailey. Relative of Glendon Barrow (USA), the Barnes and Oxley families. Friend of the Peterkin family, Mr 7 Mrs Ronald Nurse, the members of St. Jude’s Anglican Church and the staff of New Dawn Senion Citizens and Nursing Home.

A service of thanksgiving celebrating the life of Nathaniel “George” Barnes, will take place at Mount Tabor Moravian Church, Mount Tabor, St. John on Friday, September 17th, 2021 at 3:00pm, and immediately followed by interment in the church-yard.

Viewing takes place at St. George’s Home for Funerals, Carmichael House, Carmichael – St. George. on Thursday September 16th, 2021 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and an hour before the commencement of the Service at the Church.
