Rufus St. Clair Benn


Rufus St. Clair Benn – aged 93, of Lyders Hill, St. Philip, devoted member of the East Point Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses and retired Joiner of the Barbados Port Authority.  You were a very skillful joiner, had an excellent grasp of the English language and a wealth of knowledge about the history of the Barbados.  We are thankful to Jehovah that he placed you in our lives and we have gained tremendously from your experiences.

Father of Jacqueline Benn, Ruthlyne Waldrond and Joanna Griffith;

Stepfather of Ricardo, Romeo and Juan Alleyne;

Grandfather of five;

Brother of the late Gwendolyn Rouse;

Uncle of Nadine Babb and Hamilton Rouse;

Father-in-law of Alvin Griffith and David Waldrond;

Brother-in-law of Roger, Marcine, Jefferson and Andrea Holligan, Velcine Straughn and Heather Eversley;

Relative of the Benn and Rouse families;

Dear friend of Shanna and Andre Brathwaite, Devere Wharton and family, Joan and Terrel Scantlebury, Delores and Richard Taylor, Tony Stuart, the East Point, Bequest and Cave Hill Congregations of Jehovah Witnesses and many others.

The life and work of Rufus St. Clair Benn will be celebrated in a Thanksgiving Service on Saturday November 06, 2021 at Jo-anne Jones Funeral Services, “Clovelly”, Welches, Christ Church, where specially invited relatives and friends are asked to meet at 3.00 pm.  A private cremation will take place at a later date.


His body will repose for viewing on Friday from 3.30 pm to 5.30 pm at Jo-Anne Jones Funeral Services and on Saturday from 2.00 pm until the start of the service. 

Floral tributes are gratefully declined.
